According to the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaches (2023), Health Coaching is a client-centered approach that honors your autonomy and sees you as the expert on you.
Health Coaching is a beautiful process that moves you through carefully orchestrated steps that help you see and achieve your optimal vision of wellness. It isn’t about others' expectations of health and wellness; it is about what you desire for your own health and wellness.
We all know what we need to change, but the logistics of getting our lives arranged to accommodate the much needed changes can be quite the obstacle. When you work with a health coach, they help you see the best parts of yourself and guide you in creating your path.
Health Coaching applies the psychology of behavior change to help you determine where you are in the process of change and how to navigate your way through that process. It draws on many theories and provides a space for you to explore what, if anything, you might want to change. Health Coaches are trained in many elements that go into health, this is essential so that we understand what you are telling us, we are not interpreters of health information, however, we can help you find your way to people who can help you.
Through health coaching, the goal is to help you learn about your strengths, how you can use them to support behavior change, and how you can then use this information in the future when you need to make changes, well after the coaching relationship has been terminated.
Health Coaching is a judgment-free zone – it is not about what you SHOULD be doing, it is about what YOU WANT to do. A health coach can help keep you moving forward, even if it is ½ the length of your pinkie toe! Those small increments build up over time, consistency is key when you are seeking to change your lifestyle behaviors.

The process is nonjudgmental and client-centered, you are in the driver's seat, I am the copilot with the questions. I seek to support you as you work toward what it is that you are seeking to achieve.
We will work together as you create your optimal vision of health and identify your values.
We will then explore the many factors that could be impacting your health and wellness. This could be your environment, recreation and work activities, sleep/rest, mind/body connection (awareness), movement/exercise, nutrition, intellectual engagement, financial security, or spirituality.
That will help you determine what area you would like to focus your energy, the next step is SMART goals that have a clear start and end date with a way to measure your progress, along with the action steps you will take to achieve your goals.
